Adeptus Titanicus Miniatures Gallery

Adeptus Titanicus: The Horus Heresy is a tabletop game of devastating combat between awe-inspiring machines, set during the civil war that tore the galaxy apart. 2 players take control of a variety of Titans – colossal, bipedal war engines covered in thick armour and weapons which can level a city in a single salvo. It is a strategic challenge in which you pit your skill and cunning against your opponent in a battle to the death; a test of tactical skill demanding the management of the resources at your disposal, determining the optimal reactions to the evolving state of the battlefield.

Dreadfleet revisited

Back in October 2012 I made a visit to Warhammer World.

In the display cabinets at Warhammer World was a set of Dreadfleet.

Dreadfleet was a limited edition  game from Games Workshop released the year before in  2011 that was set in the Warhammer Fantasy world.  One player takes command of the Grand Alliance which is composed of the greatest pirate captains, whilst the other commands the Dreadfleet, a force composed of undead captains and their skeleton crews.

Dreadfleet is a boxed game for two (or more) players that includes everything you need to make war on the turbulent seas of the Warhammer world. At your command are two fleets of ships – the Dreadfleet led by the Vampire Count Noctilus, aboard his gargantuan sea-hulk the Bloody Reaver; and the Grand Alliance commanded by the Pirate Captain Jaego Roth, who recently stole the Heldenhammer – the pride of the Imperial Fleet, and one of the largest galleons to ever sail the high seas.

As your ships engage in furious battle, it’s down to you, the fleet captain, to make important split-second decisions. Do you bring all guns to bear on the closest enemy warship, or do you sail into position for a furious broadside? What happens when the warship catches fire, or worse, the powder kegs ignite? Exactly how much punishment can your warship take before it sinks without a trace? Are those Undead seagulls or flying piranha fish? And, when all else fails, do you have the courage to ram your foe, board their ship, and engage them in a duel to the death?

These were really nicely painted models. I did quite like the concept of Dreadfleet, however I didn’t get a copy. It reminded me very much of Man O War, a game I did buy but only played a few times.

Now with Warhammer Old World back on the shelves, I do wonder if at some point in the future we might get a new fantasy naval game. Another possibility could be a re-release of Dreadfleet, though a new edition of Man O War with new miniatures would be good as well.

Ironhead Squat Prospectors Skalvian Explorator

The Skalvian Explorator is an indomitable example of Ironhead Squat technology, a heavy all-terrain exploration and excavation vehicle suited to extracting the wealth of the Great Equatorial Wastes, surviving its many perils, and ferrying cargo back to safety.

Though the Ironhead Squat Prospectors are master weapon makers, much of their equipment is based upon mining tools, and the Explorator’s armoured bulk makes it a match for many purpose-built war machines.

I do like this model, it has some real charm. I do think there are some really nice Necromunda models out there.

Renegade Armoured Medusa Armageddon Pattern

The Medusa Siege Tank is an aging Imperial Guard siege platform used when attacking the thick walls of an enemy-held city or fortress. Built on the Chimera chassis, the Medusa suffers from a number of disadvantages compared to other artillery pieces like the Basilisk or Griffon, but its immense firepower ensures its continued use in the siege warfare depressingly common to the 41st Millennium.

Renegade forces of Chaos would also utilise the Medusa Siege Tank.

Cadian Imperial Guard Heavy Weapons Squad

This Cadian Imperial Guard Heavy Weapons Squad was on display at Warhammer World.

While massed infantry can overwhelm the foe, it often falls to Heavy Weapons Squads to deliver the killing blow. These teams of gun crews swiftly set up their mobile heavy weapons as their comrades advance, providing the firepower to bolster battle lines. With access to an arsenal of portable armaments, they can offer close fire support with adaptable loadouts of precise – or indiscriminate – firepower.

Across the three teams are a lascannon, heavy bolter, and an autocannon.

Ultramarines Life Size Rhino

When I visited Warhammer World in September 2024 I took another photograph of the Ultramarines Life Size Rhino outside the front of it, as one does.

It looked a little cleaner than it did back just six months earlier in March 2024, someone must have given it a clean.

It was originally used as a promotional piece for the THQ Dawn of War video game.  THQ gave the Rhino to Games Workshop who then gave it a repaint in Ultramarines colours.

It has suffered a little from being outside and is slightly battered and rusty, but this does make it look more “realistic”. This is how it looked twelve years ago, slightly shinier. The dirt and dust was purposely added as weathering to make it look more authentic.

Shadowsword

The Imperial Shadowsword Super Heavy Tank is the sister tank of the more common Baneblade super-heavy tank of the Astra Militarum. The Shadowsword is a nearly identical super-heavy tank to the Baneblade with the exception of its armament and battlefield role as a Titan-killer. Armed with a massive forward-firing gun known as a Volcano Cannon the Shadowsword’s primary focus during combat is the destruction of enemy Titans.

Old World Tomb Kings

These Old World Tomb Kings models were on display at Warhammer World.

A landscape cursed by the nefarious machinations of the dread necromancer Nagash, the realm of Nehekhara, once known as the Great Land thanks to its long enduring prosperity, is now the domain of the dead. This accursed land is ruled over by the ancient Tomb Kings and their legions of dread skeletal warriors. This supplement takes an in-depth look at the Land of the Dead, exploring the traditions and beliefs of this horrifying realm of cadaverous kings and their skeletal subjects.
