Back in the 1990s Harlequin Miniatures produced a licensed range of 28mm metal miniatures and one of the blisters I got was of the third Doctor.

Robot Mummy
The Pyramids of Mars was broadcast in 1975 and is one of my favourite Doctor Who episodes of all time. The robot mummy is probably one of the reasons for that, it was an ideal Who villain.
Back in the 1990s Harlequin Miniatures produced a licensed range of 28mm metal miniatures and I bought back a few of the blisters, including the robot mummy.
Now I just need a pyramid!
Daleks
Back in the 1990s Harlequin Miniatures produced a licensed range of 28mm metal miniatures and I bough back then a fair few blisters, including a selection of Daleks.
One of the things about 28mm Daleks is how small they appear next to 28mm miniatures. This is because they are quite small in “real life”.
Doctor Who Sneak Peek
Here is a sneak peek of the Christmas episode of Doctor Who has shown on Children in Need last night on BBC TV.
Here is the trailer.
Here is the prequel, The Great Detective.
Looks good.
UNIT Soldier
One of the things I always liked about the classic Doctor Who was that UNIT was part of the United Nations. Of course in the new incarnation, the real UN got a little bit snooty and serious and said that the BBC could no longer call UNIT the United Nations Intelligence Taskforce, but changed it to UNified Intelligence Taskforce! Back in the 1990s Harlequin Miniatures produced a licensed range of 28mm metal miniatures and I bough back then a fair few blisters. One of these was the UNIT soldier.
I think that this was one of the weaker castings from the range. I think if I do go for a unit of UNIT soldiers that I might go with some other models instead. I am thinking that the Bolt Action British Paratroopers could fit the bill.
They have the berets, they would just be painted light brown as they looked in the 1970s version of Doctor Who.
Of course they could be red if I was going to use them as the modern version of UNIT.
Doctor Who: Asylum of the Daleks, teaser trailer
BBC have a new teaser trailer for Doctor Who out.
Kidnapped by his oldest foe, the Doctor is forced on an impossible mission – to a place even the Daleks are too terrified to enter… the Asylum. A planetary prison confining the most terrifying and insane of their kind, the Doctor and the Ponds must find an escape route. But with Amy and Rory’s relationship in meltdown, and an army of mad Daleks closing in, it is up to the Doctor to save their lives, as well as the Pond’s marriage.
Doctor Who – Series 7 Trailer
Looking good, what with daleks and dinosaurs, oh and cowboys…
Crossover
Looks like there is going to be a Doctor Who/Star Trek TNG crossover comic.
There were rumours that there may have been an actual episode crossover between a RTD Doctor Who episode and Enterprise, but after Enterprise was cancelled, this of course all fell apart…
So is this a step too far? Or are you looking forward to it?
Update:
UNIT Files – Invasion of the Dinosaurs and the Android Invasion
Quite looking forward to the release of these classic Doctor Who and UNIT adventures.
The Third Doctor faces ravenous prehistoric monsters in deserted London, while the Fourth Doctor battles robot duplicates in a strange village – but are the forces of UNIT friends or foes? Find out in these classic adventures!
The Android Invasion
Starring Tom Baker. When the TARDIS lands in the sleepy English village of Devesham, Sarah thinks the Doctor has finally got her back home. But all is not as it seems…
Invasion of the Dinosaurs
Starring Jon Pertwee. Returning to London the Doctor and Sarah find a city almost completely devoid of life. The civilian population has been evacuated in the wake of an unimaginable event: somehow Dinosaurs have returned to terrorise the Earth.
These are classic adventures with UNIT and lots of lovely inspiration for gaming. Dinosaurs versus UNIT in one episode (and lots of other potential time travel scenarios too). Also androids fighting UNIT soldiers, more potential gaming scenarios.
It will be released on the 9th January 2012, buy it from Amazon.
The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe
A new trailer for the Christmas episode of Doctor Who has been released. Looks like a nice pastiche of The Lion, The Witch and the The Wardrobe with a Lancaster bomber thrown in for good measure.
