Unlike taking photographs of family or of landscapes, taking photographs of miniatures is not as simple and can often result in poor quality shots, blurred pictures, or just look washed out.
There is no right or wrong way to take photographs of miniatures and I have used a variety of equipment over the years and have had some excellent results (and some less than excellent…). I am happy with the results in the Miniatures Gallery and would be willing to share the techniques I have used with you.
I have taken quite a few thousand shots of miniatures over the years, and now feel I have reached a standard I am happy with.
There were times though when for example attempting to take photographs at a wargames show in the Midlands, and when using a long shutter speed, unfortunately the floor was somewhat “bouncy” and jigged the camera up and down as anyone moved within the exhibition hall. Every photo was blurred.
Hopefully you find this useful and informative.
